III. The Prophet Isaiah The prophet Isaiah is, by general consent, the greatest of all Hebrew writers and yet we know little of his personal history. His writings, which so fully describe the person and offices of the Messiah, are his great memorial. Isaiah means “The Salvation of Jehovah.” It is believed that he was born in the year 780 B.C.
